5 Simple Steps To Improve Your Emotional Wellbeing and Emotional Resilience
Get More Grounded:
Grounding helps support our nervous system, regulate our emotions, move us out of her head, brings our energy and focus back to the body and present moment.
It may sound strange but the more grounded we are in our body, in the present moment and with the earth, the more emotionally resilient we become. The more we are able to be present with our emotions in a healthy way.
One of the quickest ways to do that is to become aware of the weight of your feet and the weight of your body. I share a variety of other grounding support tools in my Free Grounding Tips below.
Focus On Your Breath:
When we are overly emotional, we get more anxious, more stressed, we ruminate and catastrophise. Our breathing becomes shallow and erratic which can loop us into the anxiety cycle.
Bringing yourself back to your breath, simply becoming aware of your inhale and exhale throughout your day is an easy way to improve your emotional wellbeing. As it also anchors us into the present moment, helps regulate our nervous system into a much calmer mental and emotional state.

Name What Your Feeling:
Once you feel more grounded and have brought yourself to your breath, name the emotion you are really feeling without adding a story to it. For example I feel sad, I feel angry… own what your feeling without apology instead of ruminating over and over again the actual experience.
Know it’s okay to feel sad, hurt, angry, disappointed…Journaling is a useful and supportive self help tool that can help you release emotional pain, feelings, and frustrations. This is about owning what you feel and can help you become more self-aware about areas of your life you may need help with.
Develop More Self Compassion And Self-Love
To increase your emotional wellbeing it is important to be more self-compassionate; learn how to be kind and loving towards yourself. It is so easy to be hard on ourselves, be very self-critical, especially when you feel emotionally exhausted or overwhelmed.
The highly sensitive person feels deeply and processes so much information. The highly sensitive empath also has an unhealthy habit of taking of becoming entangled in other people’s pain and trauma.
The trauma survivor can be so caught up in the trauma loop of fight, flight and despair. That they have become very disconnected from their self, their own emotional needs.
Be easy on yourself, take baby steps if needed. Treat yourself how you would treat your best friend, someone you deeply love and care about. Start by making a list of nice healthy things that are self loving, self caring and that are compassionate. Even things you loved to do before or as a young child. Keep it simple.
Set Mental, Emotional and Physical Boundaries
To improve your mental and emotional wellbeing it is important to set and maintain healthy boundaries. What are you going to say NO to. What do you want more of in life and what is no longer serving you. If it helps again make a list, you deserve to be treated with kindness, respect and be valued. This starts with valuing yourself.
For example many highly sensitive people especially those who are highly empathic often struggle with boundaries. They become overly entangled in the energy, emotions and pain of the people around them. The more they can tap into their own personal and spiritual sovereignty, they easier they will find it to set stronger energetic boundaries.
